about (me).

I am a food media researcher with a focus on television and culinary travel, currently at the Institute for Media and Cultural Studies at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. I am currently working on her PhD project on food television, culinary travel, and the cultural politics of embodied knowledge. I teach topics related to media and cultural studies, such as food advertising, food television, food films, recipes and instructional food media, and food media as self-expression at the undergraduate level.

My writing has appeared in Whatever: A Transdisciplinary Journal of Queer Theories and Studies, Politique américaine, and food&. You can find my illustrations under @chattydishes on Instagram and in Potluck Zine (Issue 7), or in my course materials. I am currently working on a food and culture-themed zine with a fellow food researcher called chewy zine.

My absolute favorite things to eat are my husband’s risotto, my mom’s barbunya pilaki, midye dolma, and vişneli yaprak sarma. My favorite things to bake are cookies and choux pastries.
